Renée Pitts, MSEd, LPCC-S, CDCA

I offer instruction at a monthly meditation group held at Blue Star Family Counseling Services, Inc. I have studied various meditation theories and techniques for over 25 years under several teachers in the United States. I have also traveled to India, Nepal, and Tibet to study ancient traditions of meditation, primarily settling in Tibetan Buddhism which is a rich tradition of mindfulness, body based awareness, and visualizations. My classes are based in helping my students understand the psychology of your own mind. With awareness we can identify our own thought and behavioral patterns that make us unwell. Through that awareness, with compassion, we can tap into a fundamental joy that is accessible to all. Please join me the second Wednesday of each month from 5:30 – 7:00 pm as we explore our own minds.

Dr. Erica Matthews, DC

Dr. Erica Matthews is director and chiropractor at Associated Chiropractic Center located at Blue Star Wellness Center. She believes in not just treating the pain of injury, but also the stress that can preceed. She focuses on emotional, mental and physical healing for all ages. Treating the entire person.
After graduating from LaBrea High School, Dr. Erica received a B.S. in English from Youngstown State University and a Doctor of Chirpopractic from Parker in Dallas Texas. Returning to the community that she loves to nurture, Dr. Erica lives in Southington with her husband Don and two boys. Her daughter lives in Dallas, Texas.

Hannah Richards, ART

My own spiritual healing journey began in 2018 where I began to tap into the use of Universal Energy to heal areas of my life that I was ready to transcend. These practices have changed me in miraculous ways and it is now my desire to guide others to experience this change within themselves.
​
I am a Reiki Master Teacher who has a passion for working with others to help them grow their spiritual life. Through the use of Reiki energy, the incorporation of elements (earth, air, fire, water), and simple grounding techniques I help my clients tune into their own spiritual understanding and create a solid foundation for them to experience new levels of growth & self-realization.

I currently offer Reiki trainings as well as distance & virtual reiki sessions.

Elissa Toto Taylor

It's my mission to help people understand that anyone can benefit physically and emotionally from yoga. It's not about the size and shape of our bodies or our flexibility and mobility or lack thereof. Yoga is for every body. I aim to make yoga accessible for everyone who has ever thought they "could never do yoga," and to foster a mind-body connection on the mat and off. I teach in a way that slows down the thinking mind, and sometimes the body, to truly experience the here and now and let go of anxiety and all the "shoulds" we impose upon ourselves. By setting up the Embodied Yoga studio inside Blue Star Wellness Center, I hope to ignite the love of yoga for Blue Star clients and the surrounding community.

With a trauma-informed certification, I am trained to help students feel safe and seen in my classes. I encourage each student to make the practice their own, modifying postures as necessary to feel secure in each pose and each class. I explain the plan for each class before we begin so students know what to expect. And because class is about the students, I ensure they feel empowered to take or leave each asana entirely. I encourage self-study during practice to help students identify postures or practices that may activate a trauma response and use tools to help them support the nervous system and guide themselves back to calm.
